Reporting Issues & Bugs

Radiocraft is open source and still in alpha. Bug reports and ideas go to the developers through GitHub Issues.

Where to Report

#

Bugs, crashes and feature requests go to GitHub Issues for the Radiocraft repository. That is where the developers track what needs fixing, and you can follow your report as it is worked on.

Search First

#

Someone may already have reported the same thing. Search the open and closed issues before making a new one.

If you find it, add a comment with anything new you know, such as another way to make it happen, or a thumbs up reaction to show it affects you too.

Opening an Issue

#
  • Go to New issue.
  • Choose Bug report for something broken, or Feature request for an idea.
  • Give it a short title that says what goes wrong, such as "Base station loses power when the world reloads", not "bug".
  • Fill in each part of the template, then press Create.

Report one problem per issue. Two bugs in one issue are hard to track and close.

What to Include

#

The more the developers can reproduce, the faster it gets fixed.

  • Versions: Radiocraft (from the file name or the Mods screen), NeoForge, and Simple Voice Chat.
  • Other mods you have installed, especially in large modpacks.
  • Where: single player, or on a server.
  • Steps to reproduce: exactly what you did, in order, starting from a fresh world if you can.
  • Expected and actual: what you thought would happen, and what happened instead.
  • Screenshots or video: drag them into the issue. For radio problems, show the frequency, band and antenna setup.
  • Logs: see below.

Finding Your Logs

#

Logs show the developers what the game was doing when things went wrong. Attach one to every bug report.

  • Official launcher: open your installation's game directory (the folder icon in Installations). The log is logs/latest.log.
  • Prism Launcher: right click the instance, choose Folder, and open logs/latest.log. You can also copy it from the instance's Minecraft Log page.
  • Crashes: the game also writes a file to the crash-reports folder. Attach the newest one.
  • Servers: the server has its own logs/latest.log. Include it too if the problem happened online.

latest.log is replaced every time you start the game, so copy it right after the problem happens. Drag the file into the issue, or upload it to mclo.gs and paste the link. Do not paste a whole log into the text box.

After You Report

#

Radiocraft is built by volunteers, so replies can take a while. Keep an eye on your GitHub notifications: a developer may ask you to try a test build or for more details. If you find out more, add it as a comment on the same issue.

Want to fix it yourself? The code is open source, and pull requests are welcome on GitHub.
